Summary and relationship to the curriculum: This position ensures the implementation of the State and Local adopted curriculum in support of the system’s mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teaches at an appropriate instructional level.
- Provides teacher-focused and student-focused content development.
- Provides initial focus, content emphasis and linking, and lesson summaries.
- Assesses and encourages student progress.
- Monitors student progress.
- Responds to adequate and inadequate student performances.
- Supports students.
- Handles non-instructional tasks efficiently and uses instructional time appropriately.
- Maintains effective physical setting for instruction.
- Maintains appropriate student behavior in the classroom.
- Follows professional practices consistent with school system, and state policies in working with students, student records, parents, and colleagues.
- Interacts in a professional manner with staff, students, and parents.
- Facilitates home‑school communication by holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications.
- Maintains confidentiality of students and student records.
- Works cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents.
- Complies with school, system, and state administrative regulations and Board of Education policies.
- Conducts assigned classes at the times scheduled.
- Enforces regulations concerning student conduct and discipline.
- Provides adequate information, plans, and materials for substitute teacher.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and appropriate records and files reports promptly.
- Attends and participates in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy.
- Complies with conditions as stated in contract.
- Demonstrates professional practices in teaching.
- Models correct use of language, oral and written.
- Demonstrates accurate and up-to-date knowledge of content.
- Maintains lesson plans as required by school policy.
- Assigns reasonable tasks and homework to students.
- Acts in a professional manner and assumes responsibility for the total school program, its safety and good order.
- Takes precautions to protect records, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Assumes responsibility for supervising students in out-of-class settings.
- Maintains professional relationships.
- Performs any other duties as requested by the Principal, Superintendent of Schools, and Board of Education.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in Education. Advanced degree preferred.
- Certificate or License: Valid Georgia professional teaching certificate in the assigned teaching field.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings. - Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs. - Reasoning Ability: Apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving few concrete variables; apply sound educational principles to various classroom situations.
- Technical Ability: Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
