Job SummaryThe Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy (CBA), Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. Preference will be given to applicants whose research interests are in musculoskeletal biology; qualified applicants may also have expertise in aging, bone/muscle metabolism, renal biology and diseases, diseases of the eye, and cellular polarity.
The successful candidate will establish and develop an innovative, independent research program that attracts extramural funding from government agencies, private foundations, and/or industry, receive a nationally competitive start‑up package, and participate in teaching. This is a tenure‑track position on an FY basis that works year‑round.
- Teach in the Medical College of Georgia and/or the School of Graduate Studies and mentor graduate students.
- Establish a vigorous independent extramurally funded research program that complements the research strengths and goals of DNRM and the University.
- Participate on various committees and provide public and professional service to the community, department, college, and University.
A doctoral degree in Medicine or a PhD in Biological Sciences.
- Assistant Professor candidates must demonstrate strong potential for research, including obtaining extramural funding.
- Associate and Professor candidates must possess external funding at the NIH R01 level and demonstrate potential for its continuation.
- Assistant Professor:
Early‑career faculty with appropriate post‑graduate training. - Associate Professor:
Mid‑career faculty with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. - Professor:
Senior‑career faculty with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. - Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions include:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements.
- Evidence of teaching ability.
- Evidence of scholarly activity and ability in all other duties assigned.
- Successful experience (waived for those just entering the profession who meet all other requirements).
- Desirable personal qualities judged during interview, biographical data review, and recommendations.
Should have extramural funding and demonstrate potential for its continuation.
Shift / Salary / BenefitsThis position is fiscal‑year based and works year‑round. The intended full‑time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0.
- Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and are subject to availability of funds.
