The primary role of the Lower School Specialist Assistant is to support lead teachers in building and maintaining engaging learning environments in Lower School science and art classrooms. The Lower School Specialist Assistant is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, teachers, parents, staff, and administration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Work with lead teachers to plan for yearly and weekly grade-level activities, programs, and field trips

Assist teachers in preparing and cleaning up materials and supplies and safeguarding all classroom supplies and equipment

During instruction and with direction, support students who require scaffolding, modifications, and enrichment

Help maintain anecdotal records at the direction of the lead teacher

Participate in specialist team meetings, activities, and faculty meetings

Create and maintain displays of student work

Help maintain social media accounts for art and science classes

Assist with After School Science Club Fulfill carpool and lunchroom duties as assigned

Assist in other Specialist disciplines as needed, i.e. performance rehearsals, special projects, and events

Minimum of one year of teaching experience with students ranging in age from pre-kindergarten through fourth grade

Proven ability to nurture and build relationships with students

Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Collaborative management style and professional work ethic

Collegial attitude and willingness to work on a team Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Eagerness and commitment to learn and grow Comfort and proficiency with technology
