Position #. The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks an ABIM board‑certified academic faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to participate in both inpatient and outpatient services. The position emphasizes clinical care, education, and scholarly activity and offers opportunities to work with house staff, fellows, and physician extenders.
Education and clinical research will be available based on experience and expertise. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
- Develop a robust outpatient infectious disease practice, staffing one to two half‑days per week at nearby practice sites and the fellow’s clinic as needed (40%).
- Participate in inpatient infectious disease consult services; other clinical duties will be adjusted during inpatient service periods, when possible (20%).
- Supervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellows on service or in clinic; participate in scholarly activities including publication of case reports, review articles, and original scientific reports (20%).
- Participate in night and weekend call schedules similar to colleagues (15%).
- Provide telemedicine to offsite outpatient clinics (5%).
MD, DO, or equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution. Active license to practice in the state of Georgia or meeting all eligibility requirements.
Assistant Professor – early‑career faculty member with appropriate post‑graduate training
Associate Professor – mid‑career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training and experience
Professor – senior‑career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Associate Professor or comparable training and experience
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions:
- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements;
- Evidence of ability as a teacher;
- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
- Successful experience (waived for new entrants who meet all other requirements);
- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
This fiscal‑year based position works year‑round. The intended full‑time equivalent (FTE) is 1.0. Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and are subject to availability of funds for each rank.
