Overview
The Assistant Vice President for Data Strategy and Reporting (AVP), reporting to the Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness, leads the areas of Institutional Reporting & Information, Data Governance, and Institutional Analytics. Serving as the institution's Chief Data Officer, the AVP collaborates with the President's Cabinet and academic, administrative, and campus committees to develop systematic reporting capabilities and information strategies that support data informed decision making.
The AVP oversees all institutional research activities, including external compliance reporting and the dissemination of information to support planning, policy development, and decision making. The role requires a strong understanding of national and international trends in higher education, data, and advanced analytics to help University leadership monitor progress toward strategic goals.

- Provide strategic leadership for a data-informed institutional culture and advance a culture of data informed decision making.
- Build partnerships across academic and administrative units so they view Institutional Effectiveness as the primary resource for institutional information and analytical support.
- Advise senior leaders on data governance, compliance reporting, survey research, market analysis, benchmarking, data visualization, and University-wide data and technology initiatives.
- Recommend information and analytics technologies that enhance institutional decision making.
- Oversee data governance structures and processes, fostering strong relationships with data trustees, stewards, managers, and administrative staff to promote data democratization.
- Lead efforts to develop, refine, and maintain data definitions, usage standards, and data quality, and recommend business process improvements as needed.
- Communicate best practices that support data integrity, accessibility, security, and the creation of actionable information.
- Oversee internal and external reporting processes to ensure accuracy, integrity, and consistency; direct the annual institutional reporting cycle with a comprehensive reporting calendar and management system.
- Direct the production and dissemination of institutional facts, profiles, and other reports used for external relations, accreditation, and institutional communication.
- Direct processes for responding to ad hoc information and analysis requests.
- Supervise the Director of Institutional Analytics and guide the development of analytical and decision-support solutions for planning and continuous improvement; collaborate with leaders and subject matter experts to deliver insights in formats that inform decision making.
- Oversee the development and management of business intelligence systems to disseminate institutional data and performance metrics.
- Lead cross-campus data analyst teams to share best practices and expand data literacy and education; maintain professional competence through ongoing learning and engagement in conferences and higher education events.
- Required:
Masterrs Degree from an accredited institution, and 10 years of progressive experience in higher education administration; OR Doctoral Degree in social/behavioral, higher education, information sciences, computer science, or related field, and 5 years progressive experience in higher education administration. - Preferred:
Demonstrated experience in managing the reporting and dissemination of institutional data and information; managing a decision-support program; understanding of higher education data standards and processes; understanding of the University System of Georgia, SACSCOC, and NCES data standards and processes.
