Job Summary

The Department of Pediatrics, Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is actively seeking candidates for a full‑time non‑tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or full Professor in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Successful candidates will have a proven history of excellent clinical skills and a strong desire to be involved with resident/student teaching. Research opportunities and collaboration are available, and prior involvement in clinical research is desirable, with provision of QI support through mentorship.

Responsibilities

Teaching – 10%

Educational responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing mentorship, clinical supervision, and consultation to residents, medical students, and staff at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University (AU) and Children’s Hospital of Georgia (CHOG). The position will develop a more in-depth educational experience in pediatric infectious diseases for trainees at different levels of academic education and will provide training through didactics.

Clinical – 90%

The position will provide clinical care for the pediatric patient population in outpatient, inpatient, and telemedicine settings. Duties include diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of disorders, including care of patients with HIV and other infectious diseases processes, consultations from inpatient/outpatient settings as well as the emergency department, and patient/family education. The position will share weekday, weekend, and holiday emergent/after‑hours call coverage.

Required Qualifications
  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school/university.
  • Board Certified in Pediatrics and Board Certified/Board Eligible in Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
  • Eligible for a State of Georgia medical license, federal DEA, and PALS certification.
  • Assistant Professor – Early‑career faculty member with appropriate postgraduate training.
  • Associate Professor – Mid‑career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training.
  • Professor – Senior‑career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training.
  • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)’s requirements for institutional accreditation.
  • Evidence of ability as a teacher.
  • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned.
  • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year‑round. The intended work commitment or full‑time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full‑time.

Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and are subject to availability of funds. Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, and internal equity and market data.
