The Department of Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks outstanding applicants for a tenure‑track position within the new Transdisciplinary Research Initiative in Inflammaging and Brain Aging (TRIBA). Applicants should possess research expertise in aging or related fields, and be able to establish an innovative, independent program that attracts and sustains extramural funding from government agencies, private foundations, and industry.
Responsibilities- Develop a successful research program, with the expectation of obtaining at least one NIH R01 or RFP grant as Principal Investigator, generating direct cost revenues of $200,000–$300,000 per year for 4–5 years; from year 4 onward, be PI or MPI on at least one comparable grant with laboratory grants exceeding $400,000 per year in direct costs.
- Participate in teaching at the Medical College of Georgia and/or the Graduate School.
- Mentor graduate students.
- Board‑eligible or board‑certified in a medical specialty, with an MD, PhD, or equivalent appropriate degree.
- Minimum of five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or equivalent training and experience, demonstrating a trajectory toward tenure.
- Eligible for tenure upon appointment; candidates must have achieved tenure at a prior institution and bring a demonstrable national reputation.
- Compliance with Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements.
- Evidence of teaching ability, scholarly activity, and capacity to fulfill all academic duties.
- Strong personal qualities, as assessed through interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
- Doctoral degree in a biomedical discipline from an accredited institution.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated human‑research experience, including peer‑reviewed publications and extramural funding.
