Federal Work Study Student – Adult Ready Mentor (Off-Campus)

Nature of Duties

The mentor will work with Literacy Alliance adult learners to build confidence, a positive attitude about learning, and help learners improve basic reading, writing, math, and/or computer skills.

Responsibilities
  • Meet with adult learners 1–2 times weekly at the Literacy Alliance building for sessions on topics based on the learner’s needs and goals.
  • Commit to working regular hours and complete check‑ins twice a month to maintain good standing.
  • Track learner participation by submitting volunteer hours worked and session notes.
  • Communicate regularly with the literacy instructor to support learners’ continued growth.
  • Offer office work or support as needed at the mentor’s discretion.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Enrolled as a student at Columbus Technical College.
  • Completed FAFSA and identified as eligible for federal aid.
  • Submitted a Federal Work‑Study Employment Application.
Salary/Benefits

$15.00 per hour; no benefits.

Adjunct Clinical Instructor – Associate Degree Nursing Employment Policy

Columbus Technical College seeks an individual to serve as an adjunct clinical instructor in our Associate Degree Nursing program. The position is part‑time/exempt and requires evaluating student progress, attending staff development training, ensuring safety and security in training labs, meeting program certification requirements, preparing administrative reports, and completing mandatory staff development training. Physical ability to move, stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 lb is required.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct students in the ADN program.
  • Follow state standards in developing the program and course outlines, goals, and objectives.
  • Evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Request and maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Develop teaching methods and maintain management procedures and documentation.
  • Meet with students, staff, and other educators to discuss instructional programs and related impact issues.
  • Ensure safety and security requirements are met in training areas.
  • Respond promptly to administrative requests.
  • Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
  • Maintain program accreditation requirements as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate strong time management, organization, and effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Show keen observation, supervision, and evaluation skills.
  • Have general computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Be involved in professional activities or organizations.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Recent documented clinical experience in medical‑surgical, acute patient care, and/or emergency or trauma conditions.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Current Georgia or eNLC Registered Nurse license in good standing.
Salary and Benefits

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. No additional benefits are offered.
