JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master's degree required;
Educational Specialist or doctorate preferred, from an accredited college or university in educational leadership, school counseling, curriculum and instruction, or related field.

Certification or Licensure: Meets Georgia state certification requirements for school guidance and counseling.

Skills: Strong knowledge of high school and middle school programming, student services, counseling, and career development. Expertise in multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), master scheduling, Bridge Bill requirements, and work-based learning programs. Ability to provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to cross-functional teams. Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational, project management, and data analysis skills. Ability to build effective partnerships with schools, families, and community stakeholders.

Strong technology and writing skills for program reporting and presentations.

Work Experience: Three or more years of teaching experience and three or more years of administrative or counseling experience at the high school level. District level experience in counseling, curriculum, CTAE, or student services preferred.

PRIMARY DUTY:

The Assistant Director of High School Programming and 6-12 School Counselors provides leadership and coordination for secondary school programming, student services, and counseling initiatives, supporting schools in delivering equitable academic and career pathways, strengthening college and career readiness, and ensuring students have access to college and career readiness, and ensuring students have access to high-quality advising, interventions, and post-secondary opportunities through collaborative partnerships, data-driven decision-making, and instructional support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide leadership, coordination, and supervision for 6-12 school counseling programs, ensuring alignment with national and state standards and best practices.
  • Oversee the district's multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for high schools and middle schools, working closely with MTSS Program Specialists.
  • Supervise and support the CTAE Instructional Coach, Work Based Learning/Youth Apprenticeship Coordinator, and High School Master Scheduling and Bridge Bill Coordinator.
  • Collaborate with school counselors and administrators to ensure effective implementation of academic advising, career awareness, social-emotional supports, and postsecondary
  • Monitor compliance with Bridge Bill requirements, dual enrollment processes, and master scheduling standards.
  • Support the expansion of work-based learning, youth apprenticeship, and career pathway opportunities for students.
  • Provide training and coaching to school-based staff on MTSS, academic scheduling, career advising, and college readiness.
  • Analyze student achievement, counseling, and program data to inform district initiatives, close achievement gaps, and improve student outcomes.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of professional development for counselors, administrators, and instructional staff.
  • Collaborate with families, community agencies, and higher education partners to strengthen support services and student opportunities.
  • Support the alignment of career and technical education (CTAE) programs with counseling, academic planning, and workforce initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations for district leadership, Senior Team, the Board of Education, and external stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of High School Programming and Workforce.
