The Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Emphasis on molecular and cellular neuropharmacology, with openness to candidates from other disciplines whose research complements our strengths in molecular pharmacology, neurological and psychiatric disorders (Alzheimer’s disease, movement disorders, drug abuse, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia).
Candidates with expertise in drug discovery and development, systems biology, and/or cell signaling are encouraged. We offer a generous start‑up package, excellent laboratory space, and core facilities for cell imaging, genome editing and transgenesis, proteomics, small animal imaging and behavior, histology, and electron microscopy. The position is tenure‑track.
- Research: Establish vigorous independent federally funded research programs that complement departmental and university goals. Develop new methods and technologies, collaborating with laboratory and departmental colleagues.
- Teaching: Participate in teaching programs for professional and graduate students and perform all academic and scholarly functions within the department and university.
- Service: Participate in institutional and public service.
- Other: Perform related duties as assigned.
- Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Assistant Professor: early‑career faculty with appropriate post‑graduate training.
- Associate Professor: mid‑level faculty with at least five years as Assistant Professor or comparable.
- Consistent with SACSCOC requirements for institutional accreditation.
- Evidence of teaching ability.
- Evidence of scholarly activity and ability in all other duties assigned.
- Successful experience, waived for new faculty meeting all other requirements.
- Desirable personal qualities judged on interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
- Demonstrated success in obtaining external funding for research.
- Extensive track record of publications in top scientific journals.
- Evidence of commitment to multidisciplinary collaborations with academic researchers inside and outside the university.
- Unique, cutting‑edge technology expertise.
This fiscal‑year position is year‑round with a full‑time equivalent of 1.0. Salaries for Assistant and Associate Professors are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and are subject to availability of funds.
