The Dental College of Georgia (DCG) at Augusta University seeks candidates for the position of Chair in the Department of Orthodontics. Department responsibilities include an advanced dental education (residency) program, a DMD pre‑doctoral program, clinical patient care in the orthodontic clinic, and scholarly activities in Orthodontics.

ResponsibilitiesThe Department Chair will be responsible for the development, supervision, and overall leadership of the Department of Orthodontics, fostering collaborations across DCG departments, and promoting public health, community outreach, and research. Key duties include:
- Administration (20%):
Leadership and guidance for research, teaching, patient care, and service; oversight of curriculum management, faculty and staff development, and budgetary matters. - Teaching (45%):
Participation in departmental teaching responsibilities, including lectures, seminars, laboratories, clinical supervision, and senior‑year clinical care program. - Clinical/Patient Care (20%):
Perform patient care through the intramural practice of Augusta University Dental Associates to maintain practice skills. - Research/Scholarship (5%):
Maintain scholarly activity, including publications, presentations at professional meetings, and other relevant activities. - Service (10%):
Lead or participate in public, professional, and institutional service, including committees, boards, and councils.
- DDS/DMD or foreign equivalent; graduate of an ADA‑accredited dental school or 2‑3‑year advanced education training program; active unrestricted license in another state or eligibility for licensure in Georgia.
- Assistant Professor:
Early career faculty with relevant education and training. - Associate Professor:
Mid‑level faculty with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor. - Professor:
Senior faculty with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor. - Involvement in research/scholarly activities expected.
- Extensive leadership and administrative experience.
- Experience collaborating with senior dental school and university leaders, accrediting and licensing agencies.
- Research training (M.S. and/or Ph.D.).
- At least five years of experience in dental education and three years in a relevant administrative leadership role.
- Board certified in Orthodontics.
- Full‑time position (1.0 FTE), fiscal year based, year‑round work.
- Salary commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; subject to availability of funds.
