Job QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree preferred. Reading Specialist or Reading Endorsement required
Certification or Licensure: Must possess a valid Georgia teaching certificate or ability to acquire. Graduate work in reading and/or reading endorsement is required. Must meet the district’s online learning competency requirement.
Skills: Knowledge of RCSS curriculum; knowledge of current research-based practices in reading instruction;
Ability to problem solve and work effectively with administrators and teachers. Technical proficiency and the ability to learn new technology and online systems quickly. Knowledge of Canvas Learning Management system. Ability to facilitate school-based and district-wide professional learning.
Work Experience: A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience is required. Evidence of student achievement and student progress; strong leadership skills; familiarity with adult learning and online learning; evidence of effective technology use.
Primary DutyThis position is responsible for providing instructional support to improve all aspects of the district’s foundational literacy program and provides leadership in the implementation of the district’s reading program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Leads the district literacy initiatives.
- Models research-based reading instruction for teachers.
- Assists with the selection of reading instructional materials.
- Interprets instructional data to monitor, diagnose, and plan reading instruction.
- Collaborates with educators and Administration on the use of assessment data to plan instruction.
- Analyze the district’s literacy data and plans for future literacy needs.
- Possesses knowledge of curriculum and instructional best practices for online and face-to-face instruction.
- Collect and submit data in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates operational knowledge of internet and web-related technologies.

Special RequirementsRequired to attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by contract. Some work beyond the school day may be required.
