Job Qualifications
  • Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in educational leadership, school curriculum, or a related field required. Specialist or doctorate degree in a related field preferred. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Certification or Licensure: Must possess or meet the qualifications for Georgia Professional Certification in Educational Leadership or equivalent out-of-state leadership certification.
  • Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, materials, and equipment used in public education administration and an ability to apply them to the needs of the school. Knowledge of current curriculum and instructional practices, school operations, and pupil services. Knowledge of public school organization and administration. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate comprehensive instructional programs. Ability to plan, supervise, and evaluate the work of instructional and support staff.

    Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, community, and the general public. Demonstrated skills in organization, planning, and decision-making. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to model professional, moral, and ethical standards. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Work Experience: Minimum of six years of experience in education, of which at least three years must be of successful teaching required. Prior administrative or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
Primary Duty

This position is responsible for providing leadership and management necessary to administer and supervise all instructional programs, policies, and activities of the school to ensure high-quality educational experiences and services for students in a safe and enriching learning environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide educational leadership by establishing a climate conducive to learning, defining roles, planning, and coordinating effective instructional programs.
  • Oversee the programs, services, and extracurricular activities required to achieve excellence and continuous improvement consistent with the school district’s goals.
  • Compile, analyze, and evaluate school and student achievement data to develop and implement the school improvement academic achievement and management plan.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of a school discipline policy that is consistent with the school district’s policy on Student Rights and Responsibilities and state law.
  • Direct the administration and support the state and local standardized testing processes and policies.
  • Ensure that the school district’s policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws, are followed.
  • Assist in planning and monitoring the school budget and ensure compliance of expenditures with the budget.
  • Evaluate teachers, administrators, and other support staff according to the school district’s policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the human resources administration of the school, including the recruitment, hiring, induction, mentoring, and retainment of high-quality staff.
  • Work with teachers to improve their teaching practices through coaching, professional development, modeling, and collaborative planning.
  • Provide an array of professional development programs for all school and support staff that is consistent with program evaluation results and school instructional improvement plans.
