Miller Grove Middle School is seeking an Reading Teacher who utilizes best practices to increase student achievement. The primary responsibility is to implement, deliver and promote high academic expectations to all students. The ideal candidate must work collaboratively with team members and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Essential Functions
  • Teaches grade-relevant, subject matter-specific, and mandated curriculum.
  • Develops and implements lesson plans and activities through in‑person and virtual learning, showing written evidence of preparation.
  • Communicates by phone, email, or video conferencing during regular hours.
  • Creates an in‑person and virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Uses internet and web‑based technology to provide instruction and collaboration.
  • Assesses, documents, and prepares reports such as achievement progress, classroom performance, assessments, and attendance.
  • Supervises and manages student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
  • Participates in conferences with parents, students, counselors, teachers, principals, and administrators as required.
  • Performs general instructions such as ordering materials, attending meetings, and professional learning sessions.
  • Directs paraprofessional or instructional aide work as needed.
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
Special Education Teacher Requirements
  • Identifies educational needs and provides instruction for students with varying exceptionalities.
  • Instructs students based on IEPs, assesses, monitors, and reports progress, and communicates with families.
  • Serves as the case manager for students with disabilities, preparing paperwork and facilitating IEP meetings.
  • Follows Georgia professional code of educator ethics.
  • Meets the unique needs of students with severe disabilities, including lifting, positioning, feeding, and toileting when appropriate.
  • Provides specially designed instruction aligned to standards and student needs.
  • Develops and implements standards‑based lessons with SDI and accommodations noted.
  • Adapts instruction to address academic, behavioral, and functional skill needs.
  • Develops, writes, and revises IEPs in compliance with regulations.
  • Implements IEP services and ensures accommodations.
  • Collects and analyzes data for IEP goals.
  • Provides progress reports to parents.
  • Collaborates with general education teachers.
  • Develops and implements Behavior Intervention Plans.
  • Creates a structured and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from a Georgia Professional Standards Commission‑approved accredited college or university.
  • Valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission‑approved teaching certificate in the appropriate field.
  • For special education teachers issuing grades, hold appropriate certification in service (e.g., special education, adaptive curriculum, or special education general curriculum) aligned with the Georgia PSC certificate.
  • Valid Georgia PSC subject‑specific endorsements.
  • For Career Technical and Agricultural

    Education:

    minimum education requirements based on CTAE specializations; must pass the GACE Education Ethics Assessment; minimum two years of verifiable industrial work experience.
