Kindergarten Paraprofessional
This position is responsible for assisting the teacher in the classroom with instruction.
Job qualifications include an associate degree or higher, 60 semester or 90 quarter hours, or a high school diploma with a passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment. Certification through professional learning or college coursework is required, as well as a valid driver's license.
Skills include knowledge of instructing reading, writing, and mathematics, and the ability to use school technology. Experience in a licensed childcare environment is preferred.
Essential duties and responsibilities include serving as an assistant in an instructional program, attending school staff meetings, participating in professional development, and working cooperatively with teachers and administrators.
The work environment is usually moderate in noise level, and the employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, while regularly talking and hearing, and frequently walking, standing, and sitting.
Special requirements include attending school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the RCSS contract.
