Position: Open Rank Faculty in Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine (Medical Educator)

Job Summary

Job  Position #  The Department of Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine (DNRM), in collaboration with the Office of Academic Affairs at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG), Augusta University, invites applications for a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor, to serve in an educator position. DNRM seeks a creative and innovative educator who will contribute to the design and delivery of neuroscience and neuroanatomy curricula for medical, graduate, and other health sciences students.

Teaching responsibilities will span a variety of instructional settings, including large-group lectures, small-group learning, and laboratory sessions. The successful candidate will advance the educational mission of DNRM and support interdisciplinary initiatives within the School of Medicine through participation in educational research, faculty development, curriculum and course design, assessment, and educational leadership. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Responsibilities
  • Teach neuroscience and neuroanatomy curricula for medical, graduate, and other health sciences students at the Medical College of Georgia and Augusta University.
  • Participate in small group facilitation, educational research, faculty development, or other scholarly endeavors that support the mission of the MCG Office of Academic Affairs.
  • Participate on various committees and provide public and professional service to the community and the department, college, university, and USG.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (MD, DO, PhD, MD/PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
  • Educational experience in medical education or other health sciences-related educational programs.
  • Preference given to candidates with at least one year of prior teaching experience in U.S. medical education programs, and to those actively engaged in research or scholarship.
  • Exceptional students nearing completion of their terminal degree will also be considered.
  • Assistant Professor: early level career faculty with appropriate postgraduate training.
  • Associate Professor: mid level career faculty with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
  • Professor: senior level career faculty with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

    Required faculty employment qualifications: consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation requirements; evidence of teaching ability; evidence of scholarly activity and competency in all other duties; successful experience (waived for new entrants who meet other requirements); desirable personal qualities judged at interview and through recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in teaching neuroscience and neuroanatomy.
  • Significant experience in undergraduate medical education.
  • Experience in assessment.
  • Experience in the use of educational technology.
Shift / Salary / Benefits

The position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended full-time equivalent (FTE) is 1.0. Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and subject to availability of funds for Assistant, Associate, and Professor ranks. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 13 paid holidays, vacation leave, sick leave, generous retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more. Full‑time employees employed successfully for more than six months may be considered for the Tuition Assistance Program.

Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire based on experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, internal equity, and market data.
