Job SummaryThe Medical College of Georgia (MCG) at Augusta University invites applications for a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the Educational Innovation Institute (Ell). Ell champions excellence and innovation in health sciences education, enhancing learning and developing educational leaders. The role is a full‑time, on‑premise position that does not meet tenure‑track criteria.
Responsibilities- Research (15%):
Conduct independent and collaborative research in medical education, focusing on learning sciences, curriculum design, assessment, faculty development, or educational technology as part of MCG’s strategic plan. - Journals (10%):
Publish in high‑quality peer‑reviewed journals and present at national conferences. - Apply research findings (15%):
Use evidence‑based strategies to advance curriculum, learner assessment, and faculty development. - Educational research design and implementation (15%):
Partner with MCG faculty and departments to support rigorous qualitative or mixed‑methods research design and implementation. - Mentor (10%):
Mentor faculty, residents, fellows, and students in research methodology, data analysis, and dissemination. - Faculty workshops (10%):
Develop and facilitate workshops to build research skills and curriculum design expertise. - Consultation to support faculty (10%):
Provide expert consultation to foster continuous improvement in academic practice. - Committees (10%):
Serve on Ell, MCG, and Augusta University committees as needed. - Other (5%):
Perform additional duties assigned by the MCG Associate Dean for Faculty Development.
- Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, PsyD, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated research experience in a social science field such as education, psychology, educational psychology, anthropology, or sociology.
- Excellent written and oral presentation skills.
- Assistant Professor – early‑career faculty member or Associate Professor – mid‑career faculty with at least five years at the assistant‑professor rank or comparable.
- Qualifications that meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) institutional accreditation requirements and evidence of teaching, scholarship, and service.
- Doctorate in higher education/health professions education, instructional design/curriculum, psychology/educational psychology, sociology, or equivalent.
- Experience in medical or health professions education research.
- Expertise in qualitative and/or mixed methods research.
- Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and/or faculty development.
- Experience working in a medical education environment (UME, GME) with learners and faculty at various levels.
- Background in integrating AI‑driven tools or methodologies into medical training programs and educational research.
This fiscal‑year position is full time (1.0 FTE) and works year‑round. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and subject to funds availability.
