Overview
Director of Instructional Resources and Support – Instructional Materials. Responsible for leading the development, procurement, and distribution of instructional resources and materials, overseeing AKS development and alignment, and coordinating district-wide instructional resources strategies and professional learning opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications- Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Educator's Certificate in Educational Leadership and/or a Support Personnel License issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (Required).
- Master's Degree in a related field (Required).
- Specialist's Degree in a related field (Preferred).
- Doctoral Degree in a related field (Preferred).
- 5 years of experience at the local school or district level, with at least two years of successful experience in an instructional leadership role (Required).
- Experience with supervision of staff (Preferred).
- Strong leadership skills.
- In-depth knowledge of effective instructional practices.
- Understanding of the district's Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS).
- Ability to develop, lead, and supervise multi-faceted projects to timely and effective completion.
- Collaborative skills to coordinate processes with multiple program offices.
- Strong communication skills with high-profile constituents and audiences.
- Ability to work successfully with colleagues including district and school-based personnel, vendor representatives, and community members.
- In-depth knowledge of instructional technology.
- Competency in budget projection and management.
- High level of proficiency in the use of digital tools and resources for productivity and instruction.
- Lead the curriculum development process and the identification, selection, and implementation of instructional resources for all curriculum areas in Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS).
- Oversee the development and review of the Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS).
- Oversee the annual review and revision processes for the AKS, maintaining cohesiveness across program areas and course/grade levels in accordance with the district's philosophy and vision for curriculum.
- Plan and institute the annual work of the GEMS Oversight Committee.
- Assist with the development and distribution of AKS support materials as needed.
- Oversee the development of AKS for new courses across program offices.
- Maintain the district's official course matrix for active and inactive course numbers K-12, assuring that active course numbers are aligned with the state course file.
- Lead the processes for identification, selection and implementation of district-selected resources to support instruction of the AKS K-12.
- Maintain knowledge of, evaluate, and communicate current research and trends in instructional resources and distribution practices within K-12 education.
- Set the vision for a balanced approach to print and digital resources, planning for next-generation resources.
- Develop long-term and short-term project plans and projections for core materials/resources review and procurement.
- Collaborate with program area offices to manage annual core materials procurement processes, adhering to district policies and AKS vision.
- Assure a wide scope of stakeholder input in the resource/materials selection process.
- Collaborate with program area offices to provide professional learning opportunities for instructional staff for effective implementation of resources/core materials.
- Coordinate with Technology and Innovation (T&I) and Data Governance staff to ensure GCPS technical requirements are met for digital resources.
- Oversee purchase and distribution of core materials/resources and some district-selected supplemental materials/resources.
- Develop and monitor district budget to maximize procurement and inventory of core materials/resources.
- Oversee GCPS inventory processes to maximize availability within budget guidelines.
- Support local school points of contact for inventory and distribution of resources (barcoded and non-barcoded).
