Assistant Vice President, Dean of Student Success & Student Affairs
FSLA Type: Exempt
Salary Range: $60,000-$65,000
Reports To: Vice President for Student Success & Enrollment Management
Terms of Employment: Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARYThe Assistant Vice President/Dean serves and provides leadership for student conduct, campus life, student engagement initiatives, residence life collaboration, crisis response, leadership development, student advocacy, student organizations, campus programming, and divisional assessment efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Serves as a senior leader within the Division of Student Success and assists with divisional strategic planning, policy development, assessment, and implementation of institutional student success initiatives.
- Supports the development and execution of initiatives designed to improve student retention, persistence, engagement, academic success, and graduation outcomes.
- Assists in developing, implementing, and assessing divisional goals, learning outcomes,
- Provides direct oversight and leadership for assigned functional areas within Student Affairs which may include Student Conduct/Title IX, Campus Life, Residence Life collaboration, Health Services, and a with the VPSS and President Athletics.
- Coordinates and supports major institutional student-facing events including orientation, welcome week, leadership retreats, homecoming activities, commencement-related student activities, and student recognition programs.
- Collaborates with Residence Life staff to strengthen residential education, student engagement, student accountability, and living-learning initiatives.
- Assists in the administration, interpretation, and enforcement of the Student Code of Conduct and institutional policies.
- Oversees student conduct processes, behavioral intervention efforts, student accountability measures, and student crisis response protocols.
- Serves as a member of the institution’s CARE/BIT Team, crisis response team, and student support response initiatives.
- Develops and submits annual reports, assessment reports, student engagement metrics, and strategic recommendations to divisional leadership.
- Assists with the creation and implementation of policies and procedures related to student development, student conduct, engagement, and campus life.
- Works collaboratively with Enrollment Management and Admissions to support recruitment, transition, and yield programming initiatives.
- Master’s degree required in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Educational Leadership, College Student Personnel, or related field.
- Doctorate preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in Student Affairs, Student Success, Higher Education Administration, or related areas.
- Experience supervising professional staff and managing student-facing operations in a college or university setting required.
- Demonstrated experience with student conduct administration, crisis management, student engagement, retention initiatives, leadership development, and campus programming.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and commitment to inclusive excellence and student-centered leadership.
- Knowledge of student development theory, higher education trends, compliance practices, assessment methods, and student success best practices.
- Experience at an HBCU or mission-driven institution preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Demonstrated commitment to student advocacy, student development, and holistic student success.
- Ability to build collaborative partnerships across campus and within the community.
- Strong conflict resolution, crisis management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to analyze data and utilize assessment to guide decision-making and program improvement.
- Understanding of FERPA, Title IX, Clery Act, and student affairs compliance practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, student information systems, case management systems, and campus engagement platforms.
