The Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University seeks a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor. The role supports the Aug. University – East Central Regional Hospital partnership and its academic missions, particularly in general inpatient care. Responsibilities include delivering clinical services at ECRH and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards.
This position is not on a tenure track.
- Clinical (75%) Provide inpatient rotations in a psychiatric hospital, with duties split between the outpatient clinic and ECRH. Learners may be present during rotations.
- Research (15%) Conduct research in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry and DBHDD/ECRH. Research is renewed annually based on engagement and productivity.
- Instruction (10%) Provide care to learners, attend grand rounds and faculty meetings, and deliver didactics.
- MD, DO, MBBS or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Medical license and completion of psychiatry residency training.
- Assistant Professor – early level academic career with appropriate post‑graduate training.
- USG institutional and academic‑rank qualifications, including:
- Compliance with SACSCOC accreditation requirements.
- Evidence of teaching competence.
- Evidence of scholarly activity and proficiency in all assigned duties.
- Successful experience (waived for new academics meeting all other criteria).
- Desirable personal qualities assessed through interview, biographical data, and recommendations.
This full‑time position (FTE 1.0) is fiscal‑year based and works year‑round. Salary is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and subject to funding availability. Rank and salary are determined at hire, considering experience, credentials, and market data.
Advancement follows the annual promotion and tenure process.
Candidates must pass a background check; a credit check is required if the position involves purchase‑card usage or places of trust. Motor‑vehicle reports are required for positions that involve driving an Augusta University vehicle. Faculty hires must provide proof of completed academic degrees and transcripts; foreign‑trained candidates must submit an educational credential evaluation. Employees must safeguard confidential information and adhere to cybersecurity and privacy policies throughout employment.
