Electrical Engineer – Manufacturing & Controls

Are you passionate about designing, improving, and future-proofing complex electrical systems in a manufacturing environment? This is an opportunity to play a key role in a major capital investment project (~$100M) focused on modernizing plant-wide PLC and controls systems.

You’ll work at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and IT
, helping drive large-scale system integration and long‑term operational reliability.

What You’ll Do
  • Support a company‑wide overhaul of PLC and electrical control systems as part of a large capital project
  • Collaborate closely with IT and cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless controls integration across the facility
Design & Improve Electrical Systems
  • Design, develop, and enhance large‑scale electrical systems and machinery used in manufacturing and power distribution
  • Modify and optimize control systems to improve machine reliability, safety, and productivity
System Integration & Optimization
  • Ensure PLC, sensor, motion control, and servo systems are properly integrated into production processes
  • Partner with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to drive process improvements and system performance
  • Lead and support engineering projects from concept through implementation
  • Work with vendors and contractors on equipment selection, system upgrades, and technical solutions (programming may be vendor‑led, but you will oversee integration and functionality)
Testing, Validation & Reliability
  • Oversee testing, installation, and validation of electrical and control systems
  • Develop procedures and support teams in system commissioning and performance verification
  • Analyze system performance data and recommend improvements to prevent failures and increase reliability
Technical Evaluation & Planning
  • Review equipment proposals, specifications, and technical documentation for feasibility and performance
  • Use engineering tools, CAD software, and data analysis to forecast equipment capability and support long‑term manufacturing goals
What You Bring
  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles
    , industrial controls, and automation
  • Proven experience working in manufacturing environments with complex, integrated systems
  • Ability to collaborate across departments including operations, maintenance, engineering, vendors, and IT
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with a strong emphasis on safety, reliability, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast‑paced, technical settings
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) – required
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • Experience supporting or leading large capital projects involving plant‑wide system upgrades
  • Hands‑on experience with PLC‑integrated systems (beyond basic maintenance or robotics‑only roles)
  • Strong understanding of controls integration, sensors, and process improvement
Technical Skills
  • Advanced troubleshooting of electrical and electro‑mechanical systems down to the component level
  • Experience designing or modifying electrical control systems
  • Strong working knowledge of PLCs, motion control, and servo systems
  • Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot complex PLC and servo programs (direct programming may be vendor‑led)
  • Familiarity with Mitsubishi PLCs is highly preferred
  • System calibration and performance optimization
  • Experience supporting PLC hardware diagnostics and repairs
  • Proficient with CAD and engineering software tools
