Overview
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) is hiring Environmental Engineers for the Augusta, GA (Richmond County) East Central District Office. The role supports the department’s mission to protect and restore Georgia’s environment through enforcement, inspection, and technical support across air, land, and water projects.
Responsibilities- Assist with the collection of environmental data.
- Inspect industrial and municipal facilities to evaluate operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Monitor progress of environmental improvement programs.
- Obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits, and standard operating procedures.
- Prepare, review, and update environmental investigation and recommendation reports.
- Provide technical-level support for environmental remediation and litigation projects.
- Review and analyze engineering plans to recommend reductions in environmental impact.
- Perform simple engineering calculations to model or predict contamination flow.
- Conduct standard engineering studies to confirm compliance with applicable laws and standards.
- Engage in field work and OOT (overnight) travel as required.
- Entry Level ($58,240) – Bachelor’s degree in agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, civil‑sanitary, or mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Intermediate Level ($64,064) – Bachelor’s degree as above plus either one year of experience in professional environmental or sanitary engineering or two years as an Environmental Engineer I (ETP
020) or equivalent. - Advanced Level ($70,470) – Bachelor’s degree as above plus either two years of professional environmental or sanitary engineering experience or two years as an Environmental Engineer II (ETP
021) or equivalent.
Additional experience or credentials may be considered at the discretion of the agency but are not required for baseline qualifications.
