Facilities Consultant – Mechanical
We are seeking a Facilities Consultant – Mechanical to conduct mechanical facility assessments across a variety of asset types, including zoos, airports, hospitals, schools, historic government buildings and advanced laboratory facilities.
Responsibilities- Review client documentation (drawings, studies, maintenance logs, etc.) in preparation for and during inspections.
- Perform visual inspections of building systems—heating, cooling, ventilation, distribution, fire protection, controls, and plumbing—using professional expertise to verify physical condition.
- Interact with client facilities management staff to gather information on operations, investments, and functional needs.
- Document findings on tablets with mobile collection software, providing justification for determination of physical condition.
- Develop cost estimates for replacement or corrective measures using existing data libraries and, when necessary, vendor research.
- Document findings within Gordian’s asset management and capital planning software in collaboration with other assessment team members.
- Ensure individual quality assurance, including completeness and accuracy of findings aligned with project scope, in preparation for findings reports and presentations.
- Support client inquiries by providing additional clarification and guidance based on assessment findings.
- Physically capable of walking and inspecting large complexes, including climbing ladders and stairs, to assess building systems and roofing.
- Travel up to 40–50% of the time; may travel nationally and occasionally internationally for up to two weeks at a time.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Facility/Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in facility assessment or inspection, facility operations, design, construction, or property management.
- Knowledge of researching and applying relevant building codes and standards for existing buildings.
- Experience conducting quantity surveys and estimating replacement values using RS Means or similar construction cost data sets.
- Ability to evaluate facility/system conditions and conduct lifecycle analysis to identify deficiencies with corrective cost estimates.
- Proficiency with computers and mobile devices, including Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel) and web browsers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong focus on critical tasks to drive results.
- High attention to accuracy and detail.
- Technical certifications, professional registrations, and government clearance are a plus.
- Multi‑disciplinary knowledge (architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, or site utilities) is a plus.
This position is eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.
Pay RangeThe salary range for this position (in local currency) is 65,100.00 – .
