Position SummaryAs a Technical Buyer, you connect engineering with the external supply chain. You are an engineer with a commercial mindset, responsible for sourcing and managing technically complex components that are critical to high-performance systems.
In this role, you work on long-term, high-value projects where supplier relationships, technical understanding, and cost ownership go hand in hand.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers, focused on long-term partnerships
- Lead negotiations on pricing, lead times, contracts, and technical capabilities
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality to align on specifications and manufacturability
- Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements
- Source and manage suppliers for complex components (machining, sheet metal, surface finishing such as plating/coating)
- Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Analyze supplier markets and identify opportunities for cost and performance optimization
- Manage contracts, pricing agreements, and ERP data accuracy
- Contribute to supplier development and scaling of the high-tech supply chain
Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of manufacturing technologies (machining, fabrication, assembly)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Solid understanding of GD&T and quality requirements
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience working in ISO 9001 or comparable quality environments
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving high-tech production environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing or technical procurement environment
- Experience in semiconductor, aerospace, medical devices, or similar high-tech industries is strongly preferred
