We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance to lead all accounting and financial operations within a hospitality-focused country club environment. This is a hands‑on, in‑person leadership role requiring a strong foundation in accounting, deep hospitality experience, and advanced Excel skills. This position plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and operational partnership across the organization.

Candidates must have hospitality experience
—experience exclusively in industries such as healthcare or medical services will not be a fit for this role.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to:

Managing Director, with a dotted line to the CFO.

Works closely with: AR, AP, Treasury, Operations Leadership, and external CPAs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations within a country club environment in accordance with GAAP.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Lead month‑end close processes, including balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Ensure proper accounting controls, documentation, and consistency across departments.
  • Utilize Sage Intacct, Excel, and hospitality‑based systems to drive accuracy and insight.
  • Operational & Hospitality Finance.
  • Partner closely with management to support hospitality operations and large‑scale events.
  • Ensure accurate customer invoicing and revenue recognition.
  • Oversee sales tax return preparation.
  • Work directly with AR, AP, and Treasury to maintain clean financial processes.
  • Compliance, Audit & Year‑End.
  • Lead year‑end reporting and collaborate with external CPAs for tax preparation.
  • Assist with external audits as required.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory and financial reporting standards.
Systems & Technology
  • The Controller will work daily with the following platforms:
  • Accounting:
    Sage Intacct (Sage experience required).
  • Hospitality & POS:
    Maestro PMS (strongly preferred), Silverware Payments:
    Mezzopay, Stripe, Square, Shift

  • Inventory / Vending:
    Vend Net General :
    Microsoft Excel (advanced proficiency required).
Required Qualifications (Must‑Have):
  • Proven hospitality accounting experience (country club, hotel, resort, or similar environment).
  • Strong grasp of GAAP accounting fundamentals.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with Sage or Sage Intacct.
  • Ability to manage month‑end closes and balance sheet reconciliations independently.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, in‑person hospitality environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to partner cross‑functionally.
  • Note:

    Candidates without hospitality experience or coming primarily from medical/clinical accounting backgrounds will not be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Maestro PMS
  • Prior leadership experience overseeing AP or similar accounting functions
  • Experience working directly with external CPAs and auditors
  • Background in multi‑revenue‑stream hospitality environments
  • Schedule:

    Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Flexibility:
    Several times per year, additional availability is required for large events (all hands on deck)
  • Location:

    Fully on‑site in Richmond, RI (this is not a remote or hybrid role)
