Environmental Compliance Specialist - Augusta, GA
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division is seeking Environmental Compliance Specialists to help protect and restore Georgia’s environment. The role supports the Air, Land and Watershed Protection Branches by inspecting facilities, enforcing environmental laws, and ensuring compliance across the state.
Duties and Responsibilities- Evaluate programs for compliance with environmental laws and recommend monitoring, corrective actions, and enforcement actions.
- Collect samples, investigate complaints, provide environmental education and technical assistance.
- Perform inspections, interviews, and technical reviews; conduct facility audits and inspections.
- Review permit applications against regulations and draft correspondence or permits as required.
- Provide recommendations for enforcement actions when needed; support field work and occasional overnight travel.
- RCP
020 – Environmental Compliance Specialist 1:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Geology or a closely related field; entry salary $41,600. - RCP
021 – Environmental Compliance Specialist 2:
Bachelor’s degree in the same field and at least two (2) years of professional experience, or one (1) year of experience at the RCP
020 level; entry salary $45,760. - RCP
022 – Environmental Compliance Specialist 3:
Bachelor’s degree in the same field and at least three (3) years of professional experience, or one (1) year of experience at the RCP
021 level; entry salary $50,336.
- Additional experience or certifications in environmental protection.
- International education evaluation if degree earned outside the USA.
- Position located in the Augusta, GA (Richmond County) East Central District Office.
