Job Summary
Entry‑level police officer cadet position. The successful candidate will complete the Georgia Police Officer Training and Standards Basic Mandate course and then the Augusta University Field Training Officer program. Upon completion of both programs, the officer will be eligible to advance to Police Officer II.
Responsibilities- Complete the Georgia Police Officers Standards and Training Basic Mandate course (≈6 months).
- Complete the Augusta University Field Training Officer program (≈13 weeks).
- Patrol designated areas of the university, preserving law and order and addressing incidents such as trespassing, theft, alarm activation, traffic accidents, and traffic regulation violations.
- Prepare required documents and reports.
- Effect arrests and restrain persons according to probable cause and reasonable suspicion.
- Conduct investigations, collect and identify evidence, interview principals and witnesses, and testify in court if subpoenaed.
- Promote a customer‑friendly environment for patients, students, faculty, and employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED from a recognized state or federal accredited organization.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must possess good moral and ethical character.
- Must be able to obtain certification through the POST Academy.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Detail‑oriented.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Shift: Rotating. Pay Band: B8. Salary: $21.83 hourly, commensurate with qualifications within the established range. Recruitment period: 3/13/26 — Until Filled.

- Background check review prior to starting.
- Credit check completed for positions of trust or authorized purchase card usage.
- Motor vehicle reports required for positions that require driving an Augusta University vehicle.
- Compliance with cybersecurity and privacy policies.
- Physical Abilities Test (PAT) and other required assessments.
- Successful completion of POST certification requirements for sworn police officers in Georgia.
- Mandatory reporting and response duties as a Campus Security Authority pursuant to the Clery Act.
