Augusta University is Georgia's innovation center for education and health care, training the next generation of innovators, leaders, and healthcare providers. Established in 2017, the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services was created through a unique collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice with the goal of delivering high‑quality health services to the state of Georgia's justice‑involved youth in 25 facilities.
Required QualificationsEducational Requirements
- High school diploma with two years of experience and one of the following certifications:
- AAMA — American Association of Medical Assistant
- CCMA — Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
- Med Ca — Medical Career Assessment
- NCMA — National Certified Medical Assistant
- RMA — Registered Medical Assistant
- Maintain confidentiality
- Detail‑oriented
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
Preferred Qualifications
3 or more years of prior clinical experience and correctional clinical experience. Experience with electronic medical records preferred. Bi‑lingual a plus.
Responsibilities- Provide administrative and clinical support to physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, or other providers.
- Evaluate and prepare patients for provider visits.
- Conduct patient triage, including taking vital signs, recording patient interview/complaints, and preparing the patient for exams/procedures.
- Process lab requests, perform venipuncture, routine screening tests, EKGs, nebulizer treatments, and dressing changes as ordered.
- Prepare and administer medications as prescribed; record times and amounts on patient records.
- Enter clinical data into the electronic medical record and maintain accurate documentation.
- Assist with administrative clerical duties, answer phones, and schedule appointments as needed.
