Department Information The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation0s largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses across the state. MCG offers postgraduate education across numerous programs and partnerships with physicians and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary

  • Scheduling bench staff lab work; managing staff schedules including vacations and working hours; ensuring staff availability until 6:00 PM; cleaning and organizing Lab Vantage per Director's instructions; managing and completing CAP-based documentation; redesigning SOPs and policies as per Director's instructions; organizing lab safety measures; representing Biorepository at safety, CTO, and finance meetings in the Director's absence; managing cost recovery services via iLab and People Soft;

    assisting with Biorepository contracts with internal and external organizations; ensuring regular staff training and development; completing staff annual performance evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Cost — Manage cost recovery via iLab and People Soft, including contract management and placing inventory orders and generating POs/invoices.
  • Administrative — Manage staff schedules; ensure equal distribution of tasks; maintain up-to-date staff training; cross-train staff in various lab processes; ensure staff availability in emergencies; organize the lab and ensure safety measures; maintain necessary documentation; complete staff annual performance evaluations.
  • Maintenance — Monitor and perform preventative maintenance as outlined in biorepository policies; ensure equipment is repaired promptly if out of order.
  • Manage Lab Vantage — Oversee Lab Vantage (biorepository LIMS); coordinate with IT groups to manage demographics, diagnoses, stage, grade, and related parameters; generate concise sample inventory regularly.
  • Cancer Registry/EPIC/Pathology System — Import data into Lab Vantage via interface or manually.
  • Liaise — Liaise with PIs and MCG/GCC staff to market the biorepository.
  • Other — Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. from an accredited college or university with at least one year of directly applicable experience and supervisory experience; OR
