Job SummaryThis position provides administrative and technical oversight for a research laboratory in the Department of Physiology. Responsibilities include ensuring research protocols and safety guidelines are followed, managing laboratory resources, providing teaching and technical oversight to students, postdoctoral fellows, and technicians, processing data, presenting findings, and assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) with current and future research applications. Tasks include blood sampling, blood pressure studies, data acquisition, analyses, and tabulation.
Responsibilities- LAB MANAGEMENT: Coordinates research activities, instructs research staff and students, advises on research techniques, and coordinates telemetry studies with other faculty and labs.
- ANIMAL MANAGEMENT: Coordinates administrative and technical arrangements of animal models, maintains records, and performs animal surgeries.
- EXPERIMENTS: Performs complex data analysis, prepares findings for future development, and develops new studies in coordination with the PI.
- FISCAL MANAGEMENT: Participates in tracking and monitoring budgetary resources to ensure effective lab operations.
- SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE: Uses independent judgment to ensure safe and efficient use of resources, monitors compliance with federal guidelines and institutional protocols.
- GRANT DEVELOPMENT: Assists the PI with data preparation for grant applications and renewals, and participates in the composition, editing, and publication of research findings.
- OTHER: Performs other duties incidental to work described herein.
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area, plus experience in research or clinical laboratory work, particularly clinical trial research.
• OR Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with a minimum of three years’ research and/or clinical experience.
- Experience handling small animal models such as rodents.
- Experience performing animal telemetry surgeries.
- Knowledge of lung disease with a focus on acute lung injury and pulmonary fibrosis and the role of mechanobiology.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant computer software/databases.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, multitasking, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records, and make independent decisions.
Shift: Days;
Monday – Friday (work outside normal business hours may be required).
Salary Minimum: $45,400 annually.
Pay Band: B8.
