The Patient Care Tech II will communicate with team members in a timely manner about his/her observations of the patient's progress, needs and problems. Maintains established departmental/hospital policies, procedures, objectives, Performance Improvement and Patient Safety, and infection control. Works as a member of a unit based, multidisciplinary patient care team. Embraces shared governance nursing organizational principals by being informed of nursing councils' activities so that outcome, goals and objectives of nursing are achieved.
Accountability will be monitored through direct observations; achievement of team service goals including satisfaction, quality, and financial outcomes; and performance improvement activities. The provision of nursing care will be provided in an environment that embraces maximum participation by the staff.
Demonstrates population-specific competencies (e.g. age-specific, cultural sensitivity, patient-centered communication) in performance of role.
Qualifications
Education
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Preferred
- Related post-high school education . (Examples: Unit Clerk, Medical Secretary, etc. or related course work.) Preferred
- 1 year full-time experience performing phlebotomy functions at Phlebotomy I or II level or phlebotomy competence or certification . Will also consider experience in other allied health professions requiring phlebotomy skills such as: LPHI or II, Paramedic, EMT or Certified Medical Assistant. Experience dealing with public demonstrating excellent customer service skills Required
- 1 year experience direct care/lab Preferred
- Direct Patient care experience such as Nursing Assistant, Dietetics Representative, Physical Therapy Aide, Phlebotomist, EKG Technician, etc. desired Preferred
- BCLS
- Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required - CNA
- Certified Nursing Assistant Preferred - CPT
- Phlebotomy Technician Certification Preferred
