Job Summary and QualificationsTo collaborate as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide patients of all age groups and acuity levels with high quality Medical Nutrition Therapy following the Nutrition Care Process.
Major Responsibilities:Quality
Performs timely nutrition screenings and assessemnts in accordance with the Corporate Screening and Assessment Policy
Perform nutrition focused physical exams on patients who are at nutritional risk and act as a NFPE champion by training others.
Develop and implement individualized nutritional care plans.
Identify patient nutrition education needs and provide nutrition counseling to patients, family, and/or caregivers
Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
Participate in the competency assessment process and achieve/maintain a passing score of 90% or higher on RD chart audits.
Serve as a clinical resource for reliable nutrition information to all interdisciplinary team members, interns, and the community.
Assists in the development of nutrition care guidelines and adheres to the nutrition care manual, department/facility guidelines and/or protocols to provide evidence based nutrition care.
Integrates the Academy Code of Ethics in all areas of practice.
Specialty-Specific Responsibilities
Lead an annual clinical nutrition practice initiative, performance improvement and/or research project.
Attend, participate, and present nutrition information at the nutrition support committee meetings and shared governance councils.

Assumes accountability for promoting consistent, positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service.
Maintains a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
Supports the development and implementation of strategies to elevate the patient experience.
Displays courteous behavior to customers, guests, and co-worker. Must smile, make eye contact, and use AIDET principles when interfacing with patients.
People
Mentors and coaches dietetic interns and new employees while fostering their critical thinking skills.
Provides and develops education and training for dietetic interns, healthcare students, residents, physicians, and allied health professionals in clinical nutrition as assigned
Participates in the interviewing process of potential dietitians
Growth
Pursues goals and professional development to maintain a high level of competency in nutrition care or specialty.
Finance
Perform all duties and uses resources in a fiscially responsible manner.
Other
Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”
Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or equivalent Required
Master Degree Preferred
Completion of an ACEND-accredited internship practice program Required
At least 3 years of hospital clinical nutrition experience Required
