Starting Salary: $38,000

Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner and leaders encourages all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. The use of wellness breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and assist employees in meeting their wellness goals. A maximum of 30-minutes in a given workday may be used to engage in wellness activities, generally in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

Under general supervision performs administrative and clinical duties to include ordering lab tests via interface, entering and uploading patient information and documents in electronic health records. Perform venipunctures and collect specimens, label, process, and package specimens utilizing appropriate handling, packaging, and shipping guidelines required by reference labs. Conduct authorized point-of-care testing such as HIV and Syphilis Rapid testing, pregnancy tests and, additional waived testing.

Perform newborn screening heel-sticks, and tuberculin skin testing after documented training and competency. Maintain clean instruments and work area. Follow standing orders and clinical protocol when providing laboratory services. Enters orders, results, services, and patient information accurately into electronic health record and laboratory systems. Maintain laboratory supplies, laboratory inventory, temperature logs, equipment records, and expiration date checks. Follow HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, infection control, and blood borne pathogen requirements.
