Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Serves as job expert or organizational resource in assigned areas.
  • Acts as lead worker.
  • Answers questions from employees or management regarding personnel and payroll transactions.
  • Calculates and initiates payroll computation and deductions and enters data into computer system.
  • Coordinates hiring processes, ensuring all required forms are completed and all clearances are obtained.
  • Enters and verifies personnel transactions.
  • Explains benefits and human resource policies to employees and authorized persons.
  • May supervise technical and/or clerical staff.
  • Processes and issues employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
  • Processes enrollments and changes and responds to questions regarding the benefit programs.
  • Provides information to employees and others on payroll matters, tax issues, and benefit plans.
  • Responds to questions and provides information regarding employment.
  • Reviews computation and other information in order to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
  • Verifies attendance, hours worked, and pay adjustments, and posts information onto designated records.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience performing human resources job‑related functions; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level HR Tech 2 (HRT
    011) or position equivalent.
  • Alternatively, an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and a combination of knowledge, education, job or internship experience, training, or certifications that provide the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year‑over‑year.
