Job Summary
The Systems Engineer 1 serves as an individual contributor in an Information Technology role, providing system implementation, support, monitoring, and maintenance of applications and services. The role involves collaborating with project managers and engineering staff, overseeing the entire system lifecycle from design through operation, and ensuring high standards of technical performance and risk assessment.
Responsibilities- Perform daily system operations tasks to verify system integrity and availability, including monitoring applications and servers and responding to alarms.
- Conduct performance tuning, hardware/OS upgrades, and resource optimization.
- Deploy, set up, and maintain complex testing environments.
- Manage changes and project activities, communicating with impacted stakeholders.
- Provide Tier III support and other required support per service request.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with at least two years of experience.
- Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory support.
- Experience with Red Hat Linux.
- Experience with Office 365.
- Proficient in university and enterprise information technology and service delivery.
- Knowledge: Experience dealing with vendors and contractors; change and configuration management principles; maintaining large numbers of physical and virtual servers; privileged access manager (PAM) solutions; scripting in bash, ksh, Python, Puppet, etc.; knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux versions and related technologies.
- Skills: Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills; effective communication with team members, partners, and clients; confident interpersonal style with emotional intelligence.
- Abilities: Ability to maintain confidentiality; self-starter; ability to work collaboratively; ability to participate in technical cross-functional meetings.
- Shift: Days, Monday–Friday (may require work outside standard business hours).
- Pay Band: B12.
- Salary: $62,300 – $64,480 annually.
