Overview

Oil & Gas Attorney – Houston, TX

Kuiper Law Firm is seeking a highly skilled Oil and Gas Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the legal intricacies within the oil and gas sector, including regulatory compliance, contracts, title examination, energy transactions, renewable energy, and litigation. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile cases and provide strategic legal counsel to a diverse client base.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of oil and gas matters, including exploration, production, leasing, and royalties.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to oil and gas operations, including joint operating agreements, farm-out agreements, and service contracts.
  • Conduct comprehensive title examinations to determine ownership related to oil and gas properties.
  • Draft detailed title opinions highlighting any defects, liens, or other issues that may impact the ownership or use of the property.
  • Represent clients in oil and gas litigation, including disputes over mineral rights, lease agreements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions within the oil and gas industry.
  • Stay updated on federal, state, and local regulations impacting the oil and gas industry, and ensure clients are in compliance.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys within the firm to provide comprehensive legal solutions to clients.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships to grow the firm's oil and gas practice.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Texas State Bar membership.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience practicing law with a focus on oil and gas.
  • Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory framework governing the oil and gas industry in Texas.
  • Proven experience in oil and gas transactional work.
  • Landman experience a plus
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of professionalism and commitment to client service.
