QualificationsEducation
: A high school education or equivalent is required.
Certification or Licensure: Certification in Institutional, Industrial, and Structural related pest control category 35 or equal. Possession of a valid state driver's license.
Skills: Knowledge of the safety protocols for pest control, including wearing properly fitted respirators when working with chemicals and donning protective clothing and gloves. Ability to move heavy equipment from one place to another. Ability to remain upright and access places where pests hide, including small and dark spaces. Observation and analytical skills to spot signs of infestation and determine what pests are present.
Attention to detail to reduce errors and ensure the effectiveness of treatment procedures. Interpersonal and communication skills to ensure positive interactions.
Work Experience: Experience in performing job assignments in Pest Control in and around school facilities is preferred.
Primary DutyThis position is responsible for providing pest remediation and prevention solutions to school and office properties throughout the district. Duties commonly include conducting inspections for insects and vermin, implementing effective treatment plans to remedy infestations, and advising leadership on how to reduce the risk of future infestations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- To routinely inspect all RCSS facilities for evidence of insect, rodent, or animal issues.
- To perform treatment for pest control issues on an as-needed basis and within state guidelines.
- To provide professional advice concerning pest control issues.
- To create and complete work orders and assign man-hours and materials used to complete the task.
- Conducts periodic and emergency inspections of structures and reports any presence of pests
- Control insects such as, but not limited to, ants, roaches, fleas, spiders, etc.
- Remove nuisance animals, reptiles, birds, bats, etc.… from school facilities.
- Provide treatment for termite infestations.
- Spraying perimeters of district structures for termites, ants, cockroaches, and other insects
- Generate specific data regarding pest control and maintain same in an accurate and organized manner.
- Perform preventive maintenance of equipment used in job assignments.
- Use pest control products following the manufacturer’s instructions.
- The employee shall carry out such other and further duties, whether specifically listed above or not, as are assigned or required by such employee’s supervisor, other appropriate school personnel, law board policy administrative regulation, department handbook, as are reasonably necessary to the efficient operation of the school system and its mission.
