Position SummaryThe Industrial Maintenance Custodian is responsible for the maintenance, cleanliness, appearance, and general safety of the common areas within the facility, including the hangars, engine shops, other work areas, and grounds. They work with minimal supervision to ensure their assigned areas are maintained in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition by performing various tasks using the necessary equipment and supplies.
Responsibilities- Daytime waste removal, operate a walk‑behind floor sweeper, and clean all hangar floors.
- Spill clean‑up and equipment cleaning.
- Handling and moving hazardous materials (waste blasting media, paint, petroleum‑based products) while wearing provided safety equipment such as protective gloves, safety glasses or face shields, aprons, and possibly a respirator.
- General repair, maintenance, and support as directed to keep the overall facility in operational condition and preserve assets.
- Complete daily cleaning assignments (hangars, engine shops, other work areas, and grounds).
- Assist in setting up rooms for meetings, classes, conferences, etc.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and securely store equipment and supplies.
- Complete reports and logs as required.
- Report equipment malfunctions, injuries, incidents, and accidents to the Site Manager immediately.
- Maintain landscaping, including mowing lawns, weed eating, trimming, and clean‑up.
- Ensure all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after activities to foster a positive safety culture.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of and experience with general sanitary and safety practices.
- Ability to complete a required pulmonary function test and a fit test to wear a respirator (clean shaven).
- Ability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business necessity may require.
- Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture.
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Post‑high school education or training.
- One (1) year of relevant work experience in an industrial setting.
