The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is seeking an experienced and motivated Coordinator – Environment and Landcare Services to lead the delivery of programs that protect, restore and enhance the Shire's natural assets.
This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role suited to an environmental professional who is passionate about sustainability, community outcomes and strategic land management. You will play a key role in shaping and delivering environmental and land care initiatives that support biodiversity, climate resilience and community engagement across the region.
About the roleReporting to the Manager, you will provide leadership and coordination across a diverse portfolio of environmental and land care services. The role balances strategic planning with practical delivery and strong stakeholder engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the planning, implementation and evaluation of environmental and land care programs and projects
- Coordinating land care, natural resource management and environmental protection initiatives
- Managing staff contractors and budgets to ensure effective and compliant service delivery
- Building strong relationships with community groups, government agencies, funding bodies and other stakeholders
- Contributing to strategic and operational planning aligned with the Shire's environmental objectives
- Ensuring legislative compliance and best‑practice environmental management.
You are a confident leader with strong organisational skills and a genuine commitment to environmental outcomes. You bring a collaborative approach and the ability to balance strategic thinking with on-the-ground delivery.
You will demonstrate:
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, natural resource management or a related field.
- Experience leading environmental or land care programs, preferably in a local government or public sector setting
- Strong people leadership, project management and financial management skills
- Well‑developed communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a complex environment.
