Job SummaryThe Director of Clinical Research Operations is responsible for defining the clinical research strategy for the Georgia Cancer Center – Augusta University, aligning research operations with the institution’s vision and ensuring efficient, compliant, and customer‑focused support to the research community.
Responsibilities Strategic Planning- Provide overall strategic direction of research operations to establish best‑in‑class clinical research infrastructure.
- Assist with institutional and new business development, including recruitment of pharmaceutical sponsored studies and NIH awards.
- Promote customer service through programs and quality standards.
- Define goals, develop metrics, and submit quarterly reports to leadership.
- Plan and develop infrastructure support to meet strategic goals.
- Collaborate with other research administration and support departments to enhance research operations.
- Oversee staff performance and provide mentorship, coaching, and development opportunities.
- Develop and enforce productivity standards through performance metrics and compliance.
- Recruit, select, and onboard employees.
- Coordinate training and education opportunities for the clinical research community.
- Serve as liaison with Human Resources on staff‑related matters.
- Provide fiscal management oversight for research activities, monitoring utilization and budgets.
- Implement policies and procedures to ensure quality conduct of research.
- Maximize IT system efficiencies and oversee integrations for research administration.
- Serve as a resource to investigators, ensuring high‑quality customer service and compliance.
- Apply regulatory knowledge (ICH, FDA, GCP, etc.) to research operations.
- Hold staff accountable for internal controls, policy compliance, and service quality.
- Implement efficient processes and monitor fiscal integrity.
- Lead alignment of policies, procedures, and technology systems.
- Oversee quality assurance activities across clinical research operations.
- Measure data, quality assurance, and customer feedback for continuous improvement.
- Manage SOP development and updates for clinical trial management.
- Represent the GCC on institutional committees and task forces.
- Advanced degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline (MHA, MBA, MSN).
- Ten years of progressive management experience in clinical research operations.
- Demonstrated organization, leadership, and change management skills.
- Strategic thinking and entrepreneurial spirit.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills to lead and manage a complex team.
- Record of accomplishment working with faculty and institutional administration.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, including creativity, resourcefulness, and technical knowledge.
- Shift: Days Monday‑Friday (outside normal business hours may be required for exempt positions).
- Pay Band: B18
- Salary Minimum: $125,900 annually
- Salary will be commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
