Job Summary

The Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the university's Fraternity and Sorority Life program. This role is responsible for setting vision and direction, ensuring consistency across councils, supervising staff, overseeing risk management and compliance, and strengthening assessment and documentation practices. The Director also serves as a key liaison to campus leadership, alumni, and national organizations while guiding program growth, culture, and student engagement in alignment with institutional goals.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP AND VISION:
Serve as the primary decision-maker for day-to-day FSL operations, policies, and programmatic direction, with alignment to divisional leadership as appropriate. Provide strategic direction for FSL with a clear focus on long-term growth, consistency, and institutional alignment. Support the development of a functional staff structure where responsibilities are clearly defined, documented, and sustainable. Translate program review findings into actionable priorities, timelines, and measurable outcomes for the office.

Lead the advancement of a cohesive FSL vision that strengthens the student experience, increases visibility, and supports progress toward institutional goals. Promote a culture of proactive planning, documentation, and follow-through across the FSL team. Foster the development and effectiveness of the FSL team through coaching and ongoing feedback, while maintaining direct supervision and evaluation of the Assistant Director. Serve as a bridge between academic priorities and student engagement by aligning chapter operations, leadership development, and programming with institutional learning outcomes and academic expectations.

COUNCIL ADVISEMENT AND PROGRAMMING:
Establish and enforce consistent expectations, standards, and procedures across all councils (CPC, IFC, NPHC, MGC) through the FSL Policy Manual. Oversee council strategy and accountability while delegating routine council engagement to the Assistant Director and Coordinators. Oversee high-level concerns, crisis situations, and sensitive matters involving council leadership, alumni, or national organizations. Ensure councils operate in alignment with university policies, intake procedures, and established expectations.

Guide the intentional development of programs, training, and experiences that support student leadership growth and belonging. Design, implement, and assess leadership development and officer transition initiatives for FSL leaders, ensuring continuity, effective governance, and the successful preparation of new officers to lead their chapters and councils.
