Job Overview

The Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations and performance of the branch, managing staff, ensuring efficient logistics operations, maintaining customer satisfaction, and achieving financial targets.

Responsibilities
  • Work with existing sales team to execute sales strategy, including building and maintaining a book of business and providing executive coaching.
  • Maximize profitability through strong, decisive and entrepreneurial leadership while maintaining Hellmann’s high standards of quality and customer service.
  • Foster strong relationships with customers and vendors to strengthen Hellmann’s position in the marketplace.
  • Operate the station with utmost integrity, fully supported by Hellmann’s Global DNA.
  • Continuously strive for value creation and efficiencies for customers, improving existing KPIs.
  • Collaborate with the team to drive continuous improvement efforts throughout the station to enhance customer experience and operational efficiencies.
  • Adapt to and manage change to avoid adverse impact on the station or customers.
  • Promote global teamwork by working closely with partners to identify and close business opportunities and strengthen Hellmann’s brand worldwide.
  • Analyze and interpret financial statements (e.g., P&L, cash flows) to maximize profits through sound business practices.
  • Ensure adherence to global and local policies, procedures, Model Branch Processes, regulatory, and governmental compliance.
  • Take ownership of the full P/L and performance of the branch, acting to meet budgeted guidelines and achieve defined KPIs.
  • Address systemic issues with network performance, customer profitability, and process deviation to ensure quick corrective action.
  • Proactively keep management informed of major developments within the branch.
  • Actively manage and drive financially-related activities, including Accounts Receivable, file‑level closing, profitability verification, and dispute resolution.
  • Drive company behavior within the branch by building business cases based on facts and financial data.
  • Work with USA Product heads to facilitate product‑related training and address client or routing issues for optimal product performance.
  • Achieve and follow up on corrective action plans within the branch.
  • Hold the team fiscally accountable and drive them to meet finance‑related KPIs and budgets.
  • Set performance goals, measure performance, and provide regular informal and formal feedback to direct reports.
  • Monitor and manage staffing levels and workload allocation across all sea product teams, including talent acquisition, furloughing, re‑purposing, re‑shifting, demotion, promotion, and severance.
  • Develop team members and provide succession planning for product manager, supervisor, desk agent, and other levels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position supervises up to fifty (50) full‑time employees and may supervise temporary employees based on projects.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics and Supply Chain, Transportation, or a related field; or equivalent education and work experience.
  • 15–20 years of experience in freight forwarding, with sales/account management experience preferred.
  • 7–10 years of supervisory experience.
  • Completion of industry‑related courses is an asset.

Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to stand and walk; regularly required to sit for extended periods.
  • Regular use of arms, hands, and fingers for computer and phone use.
  • Clear speaking and listening for heavy phone contact.
  • Requires close‑up vision for computer screen distance.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
