Chief Intake Officer

The purpose of this classification is to direct, manage, and oversee all juvenile intake operations, statutory compliance, case screening, and data integrity for the Augusta Judicial Circuit Juvenile Court. This position ensures court-wide compliance with federal, state, and local mandates while managing intake workflows. The candidate must possess comprehensive professional experience across justice-impacted counseling services, probation operations, judicial circuit processes, and juvenile detention facility standards.

• Directs and manages daily juvenile intake operations; evaluates incoming complaints, law enforcement referrals, and CHINS petitions to determine jurisdiction, legal sufficiency, risk assessment, and appropriate routing for diversion or formal judicial processing.
• Serves as the primary compliance officer for the court; audits case files, monitoring court procedures and operational units for adherence to Title 15 (Georgia Juvenile Code), DJJ standards, CJCC guidelines, and federal/state grant requirements
• Directs, supervises, trains, and evaluates intake officers, compliance clerks, and administrative personnel; establishes standardized operating procedures for case intake, risk assessments, and compliance workflows.
• Coordinates directly with juvenile probation officers and detention centers regarding secure/non-secure holding determinations, admission criteria, timely detention hearings, and lawful detention practices.
• Integrates justice-impacted counseling protocols into intake screening to ensure early identification and referral of youth needing specialized behavioral health, trauma-informed, and community-based rehabilitative services.
• Maintains accurate data records, oversees statistical reporting and recidivism tracking, and collaborates with Judges, the District Attorney, Public Defender, DFCS, DJJ, and local law enforcement.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level as required.

Education
:
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Social Work, Counseling, Public Administration, or a closely related field. (Preferred).

Experience: Minimum 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible experience across the juvenile/criminal justice continuum, explicitly including:

• Justice-impacted counseling services and rehabilitative programming experience
• Probation and Parole supervision protocols and procedures
• Judicial circuit operations and Title 15 (Georgia Juvenile Code) standards
• Detention facility intake and holding criteria
• Minimum 2 years of direct staff supervision or administrative management experience
• (Work experience can be substituted for education.)

Certification: GA POST certification preferred.
