Position Overview

Linde U.S. Gases is currently seeking a Technician for the Augusta, GA CO2 Depot. This position will report to the Site Manager.

The depot technician will be responsible for a safe, reliable, and efficiently operating CO2 depot. The position requires operating a CO2 recovery system and the ability to off load and ship rail cars in a timely manner, performing analyzer maintenance and calibrations, ISO container loading, and truck loading assistance. The role includes performing routine maintenance on plant and site equipment, troubleshooting, repairs, calibrations, cleaning, and installations of equipment.

The candidate must have demonstrated ability to work across departmental lines, be willing to interpret manufacturer’s manuals, and apply hands‑on skills in repairing mechanical, electrical, electronics, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. The candidate must be able to take direction, follow procedures and policies, and safely complete daily tasks while working unsupervised.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, perform and document preventive maintenance based on established procedures.
  • Read and maintain P&IDs and schematic wiring diagrams in compliance with SOPs, QA, and MOC policies.
  • Prepare and execute projects to improve facility availability and reliability.
  • Schedule and direct contractor activities in all related areas during maintenance at the site.
  • Monitor recovery process performance and make appropriate adjustments to remedy deviations, operating units to continuously supply products in quantities and qualities, safely and economically.
  • Comply with all environmental regulations, quality standards, and daily customer requirements.
  • Safely troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all rotating equipment and associated mechanical systems including compressors, pumps, fans, blowers, boiler systems, and valves.
  • Assist in truck loading and troubleshoot loading issues as needed.

This position requires a combination of office work and field work. The technician will operate and maintain our facilities in a safe, reliable and environmentally friendly manner and will be on call. The job occasionally requires overtime and callouts on weekends, nights and holidays. Working schedule will require some weekend work as directed by management. Employee must be able to access elevated electrical and mechanical equipment via ladders, scaffolding and man‑lifts.

Excellent communication and people skills are needed to develop working relationships with maintenance and operations personnel in a team environment.

Qualifications
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of work experience and technical training required.
  • Associate degree from a technical school is desired.
  • At least 2+ years of related experience.
  • Proven understanding of process control and instrumentation systems in an industrial environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems, motors, processing, and cooling equipment.
  • Proven experience with computers and standard software packages (MS Office, e‑Mail, etc.).
  • Proven experience and aptitude to learn industrial gas process operations and be able to troubleshoot systems and equipment.
