Material Handler
The Material Handler will assist with the operation of multiple loading racks, including truck loading racks, rail racks, and by performing loading/unloading activities. Loaders will rotate into a work team of Bulk Loaders to handle loading and unloading of railcars and tanker trucks.
Responsibilities- Assist with terminal and distribution operations by loading and unloading hazardous chemicals (e.g., nitric acid, anhydrous ammonia) via truck, tanker, and hopper rail cars.
- Rehandle off-spec product, mix, heat, filter, and pull samples to ensure product conformity.
- Assist operations with tank alignment and transfers of hazardous chemicals, ensuring proper valve alignment, sampling techniques, safety exposure, environmental considerations, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Monitor products transferred to and from tanks, vessels, or pipelines at the terminal site.
- Assist with terminal maintenance duties, maintaining equipment in operating condition.
- Pull samples as per Standard Operating Procedure for chemical analysis to guarantee product integrity.
- Input information into an electronic hand‑held device that documents the Standard Operating Procedure, load out activities, and tank production/specification information.
- Load trucks, railcars, and unload raw materials from outside suppliers and intra‑plant units.
- Track mobile movement and spot railcars and tanker trailers.
- Operate heavy machinery, including front‑end loaders and dump trucks.
- Assist customers and/or producers with any problems that may arise.
- Work while wearing required personal protective equipment, such as rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air‑purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire‑resistant coveralls, a hard hat, ear plugs, and safety glasses.
- Perform duties that require a full range of mobility in the upper and lower body, including reaching overhead, stooping, standing, bending, sitting, kneeling, squatting, using hands to handle or feel objects, climbing stairs, working at heights, and balancing for extended periods.
- Accept special assignment duties and call‑out as required.
- Education:
No minimum education requirement. - Experience:
Preferred experience in handling liquid and dry products for agricultural and industrial use. - Licenses &
Certifications:
Valid driver’s license. Forklift experience required. - Skills & Requirements:
- Must pass a background check and pre‑employment physical, including drug screening, hearing, vision, pulmonary function, respirator fit test (no beard), and range‑of‑motion testing.
- Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States. No sponsorship of employment visas is available.
- Must work a 3rd shift (11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.).
