Finishing Production Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finishing Production Manager to oversee our finishing painting operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of finishing techniques, particularly with flat line finishing systems, and will ensure the highest quality standards are met. This role involves managing the finishing production team, optimizing processes, and maintaining equipment to achieve production goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Finishing Operations:
    Oversee all painting operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards and production schedules.
  • Technical Expertise:
    Utilize in-depth knowledge of machines to lead and train the finishing team in advanced painting techniques.
  • Hands‑On Finishing:
    Prep, prime, paint, stain, and apply specialty finishes to a variety of high‑end projects. Operate and maintain spray booths, pressure pots, and spray guns. Able to read project blueprints and shop drawings to determine finishing strategies.
  • Manage Workflow:
    Develop work schedules to meet production and delivery timelines.
  • Process Optimization:
    Continuously evaluate and improve finishing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain high‑quality output.
  • Team Leadership:
    Supervise, provide strong mentorship and coaching, display a confident leadership presence, manage multiple projects efficiently, meet deadlines, maintain a structured workflow and develop the finishing production team. Fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Recruit and Train:
    Interview and select talented team members. Train staff in proper finishing techniques to ensure consistent quality.
  • Quality Control:
    Implement and maintain rigorous quality control procedures to ensure all finished products meet or exceed customer specifications.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    Ensure all finishing equipment, including flat line finishing systems, is properly maintained and serviced to prevent downtime and extend the equipment's life.
  • Safety Compliance:
    Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations. Adherence to company policy, safety, SOPs, and direction from management.
  • Reporting:
    Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, quality metrics, and improvement initiatives to senior management.
Qualifications
  • Experience:

    Minimum of 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in finishing production roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial position.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Expertise in Operations/Production Management and finishing techniques, maintaining flat line finishing systems and other related equipment. Expertise in color matching and custom formulation. Proficiency in high‑quality finishes like dyes, stains, and glazes.
  • Leadership

    Skills:

    Proven ability to lead and develop a team, demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Problem‑Solving:
    Exhibits proactive problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities, anticipating challenges and addressing them promptly.
  • Teamwork:
    Proven to contribute and thrive in a team‑driven culture of collaboration to serve others and do what is best for the business.
  • Attention to Detail:
    High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful track record in supervising top‑tier finishing operations.
  • A strong focus on safety, including proper handling of paints and solvents and wearing PPE.
  • Familiarity with production management software and tools.
  • Thriving under pressure and going above and beyond.
  • Availability to work 40+ hours per week, including overtime as needed.
Working Conditions
  • Environment:
    Manufacturing plant setting with exposure to paint fumes and machinery noise.
  • Physical Requirements:

    Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
