Senior Manual Machinist

The Senior Manual Machinist will set up and operate turret or engine lathes, and has a strong preference for operating manual mill machines. This role performs machining operations that require short lead times and tight tolerances on a continuous basis, such as air products. The machinist works to exact tolerances, determines speeds and feeds, and identifies and reports blueprint errors. The role also includes cutting internal and external threads.
Hours:
6:00 am – 2:30 am, Monday‑Friday.
- Reads process sheets, blueprints and sketches of part to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set‑up and operating requirements.
- Mounts work pieces between centers, in chuck or to faceplate.
- Observes numerical displays to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates and speeds of machining cuts.
- Inspects run pieces and spot‑checks succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications.
- Uses measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers and CMM for conformance to specifications.
- Machines bronze, stainless, plastics and other materials.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 7+ years of experience in manual machining
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Experience machining finish‑grade components to tight tolerances

- Equipment Selection – Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
- Design – Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Ability to review blueprints or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
- Ability to set‑up manual machines and/or program CNC machines independently.
- Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Reading Comprehension – Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work‑related documents.
