APGG is actively seeking candidates interested in a long-term career path in the peanut industry as a Shelling Supervisor. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and direct supervision of employees of the shelling plant during a designated shift. The following duties and responsibilities are not intended to be all-inclusive, and the candidate may perform other duties as requested to meet the ongoing needs of American Peanut Growers Group (APGG).
PrincipalDuties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for planning, assigning, and directing workflow for employees on a specific shift, and confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Provide job orientation of newly hired or newly assigned employees, ensuring knowledge of plant and department policies and procedures, learning and enhancement of skills, safety and quality awareness.
- Observe employees to ensure compliance with standards and analyze and resolve work problems or assist shift employees in solving work problems.
- Conduct employee performance evaluations, reward and discipline employees, address complaints, resolve issues, and confer with management on training needs of operations personnel.
- Achieve results by managing in an effective and efficient manner and perform activities of workers supervised when necessary.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
- Understand standard operational and working practices and anticipate and troubleshoot production and quality issues.
- Attend and successfully complete the Forklift Operator’s Course prior to operating any type of Forklift on APGG property.
- Willingness to work in shifts (late or early hours, weekends, and overtime, if necessary).
- Review all time and production records for accuracy.
- Work closely with maintenance personnel to assure that machinery and equipment are in compliance with all sanitary and Safe Food operating conditions.
- Ensure all required permits, work orders, and required documentation is completely accurate.
- Follow APGG Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines.
- Follow all APGG Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Understand and follow APGG safety policies, and ensure all Lock Out Tag Out, Confined Space, Working at Heights, Hot Work Permits, Emergency Evacuation, Electrical Safety, Contractor Compliance, Blood Borne Pathogens and At-Risk activity policies are strictly followed.
- Report any safety hazards or unsafe conditions to the Shelling Plant Manager or Safety Coordinator.
- Demonstrate good communication skills and an ability to work as part of a team.
