Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Critical Care Float position in a hospital, requiring a GA or compact license and strong ICU skills.
Responsibilities- Work in a Critical Care Float role within a hospital setting
- Float between ICU, Neuro ICU, CVICU, PCU, MS, and MS/Tele units as required
- Care for an adult to geriatric patient population
- ICU nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:2-3, PCU 1:4-5, and MS/MS Tele 1:5-6
- Scheduled for night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00)
- Every other weekend required, averaging 6 weekends per 13-week contract
- Epic EMR experience is required; uses Pyxis and SBAR
- No on-call responsibilities
- Primary responsibilities include providing critical care nursing across multiple units
- Floating to various high-acuity units expected as part of the role
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Must wear navy blue scrubs
- Maximum of 7 days requested time off (RTO) during assignment; no RTO allowed during the first week
- Spring Break (April 4th-12th) is a blackout period for RTO
- Travel pairs are not permitted to work the same shift on the same unit
- No blocked scheduling allowed
- Compliance documents must be submitted on time due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- If a major holiday falls within the contract, at least that holiday must be worked (if two, both must be worked; if three, two must be worked)
- Locals are accepted at the same rate
- Active GA or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum of 1 year recent RN experience
- Experience in ICU and other critical care settings preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Must be away from all Piedmont facilities for 1 full year to return as traveler
- Must provide two supervisory references from a manager or higher
