Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced PCU RN with a GA or compact license, BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications for a mixed acuity telemetry role with diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities- Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) caring for adolescent to geriatric patients
- Patient assignments may include mixed medical/surgical, telemetry, intermediate, neuro, respiratory, and cardiac cases
- Staffing ratios are 1:4-5 with higher than average census
- Frequent use of Epic EMR, Pyxis, and SBAR communication; experience preferred
- Evening shift consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week (1:00 PM–1:00 AM)
- Required to work every other weekend
- Floating may be required within the facility and within scope of practice
- No call requirements
- Duties include managing diverse acuity patients, titrating drips, and providing specialized monitoring
- First-time travelers accepted
- Compliance with all onboarding requirements is essential for timely start dates
- Travel pairs are not permitted to work the same shift on the same unit
- Scrub color required is navy blue
- Expected to work major holidays that fall during the assignment per facility policy
- Spring Break (April 4th-12th) is a blackout period for RTO
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Active GA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 1 year recent PCU or telemetry nursing experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Experience titrating cardiac drips and working with telemetry patients required
- Familiarity with Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR processes preferred
- Maximum of 7 days requested time off (RTO), none permitted during first week or major holidays
- Returning employees must be away from all Piedmont facilities for at least 1 full year to be eligible
